Christ Church Anglican supports the School Backpack Program with collecting and distributing funds and food as well as being the “Blanket Brigade” for elementary children in need. Children are identified by their school as “Food Insecure”. The guidance department of each school provides the number of children in need to the Health Department who in turn notifies the Wakulla Community Wellness Task Force. The identity of the children and families is confidential and not disclosed to the committee.

Currently the program supports children over Winter and Spring Breaks. In December of 2018, 362 bags of food were packed and distributed to the schools for children in need of food as well as a blanket for each child. Any food or blankets that were not distributed are used for middle and high school children that may have an emergency need. The attached documents include contact information , a list of food items needed and a website to go to the donate food. If you wish to make a monetary donation you may do so by writing a check to Christ Church Anglican and marking it for the School Backpack program.
