Servant Ministry

Rev. John Spicer, Chairperson for Prison Ministry

Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”  Hebrews 13:3 (NIV)

Begun as a primary ministry of outreach, we have seen as many as 10-12 Christ Church members regularly involved in several rehabilitation efforts at the Wakulla Correctional Institute, some as mentors, others as volunteers in other capacities.

Fr. John leads a Bible Study every Tuesday mornings from 9-11 a.m. for about 75 inmates.

Because Christ Church has, and continues to be, involved in ministry with those in prison, this is a major part of our unique “call” to serve.

Volunteers Needed

This is a uniquely rewarding ministry…the inmates genuinely and enthusiastically appreciate what we do!  There is always a need for volunteers to ….to write letters; “adopt” inmates; serve as mentors; and more.

If you would like to participate in this service ministry, please contact Fr. John or Fr. Bob for more information.
